The inaugural issue of InaJEMD: Indonesian Journal of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Diabetes Vol. 1 No. 1 (July 2024) presents a total of 11 articles focusing on clinical aspects and challenges within endocrinology and diabetes in Indonesia. This edition is composed of 1 original article, 7 case reports (including 1 case series), 1 review article, and 1 clinical practice article.

The topics covered are highly varied, including a trend analysis of the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 in diabetic patients, as well as in-depth case reports on conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) as an initial manifestation, the role of severe hypokalemia in worsening DKA outcomes, the management of idiopathic panhypopituitarism, and primary adrenal insufficiency due to tuberculosis infection. Complex thyroid cases are also highlighted, such as Hypokalemia Periodic Paralysis in subtle thyrotoxicosis and pregnancy following radioactive iodine ablation. Complementing the clinical content, there is a review on the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Diabetes Mellitus management in Indonesia, along with practical guidance on the management of severe hypertriglyceridemia.
